BROOKES|Rowing take to the Tideway
Brookes at The Fours Head
Several members of the Caversham contingent returned to racing with Brookes this weekend on the Tideway for Fours Head. In a great display of power and speed, Harry Brightmore steered the Championship Coxed Four (Oli Wilkes, Sam Bannister, Joshua Bugajski, Michael Glover) to a victory by a margin of 5 seconds over a talented field of crews.
With some Caversham athletes away with injury, it was an opportunity for some of the student men to compete alongside them in a number of crews. Some really useful racing experience gained by all, including a very fast performance by our Men’s Academic M4+. We look forward to getting back on to the Tideway for some fixtures in the New Year and the Head of The River in March.
On the Women’s side, there were some very promising results with the Championship Coxless Four placing 4th behind some stacked crews from Cambridge and Leander. There were also positives for the Academic Coxless Four after placing 3rd with a young combination. This should give the large women’s student group back in Oxford a boost in confidence ahead of the rest of the racing season.
