GBRT February Trials 2024

Today Brookes had a large cohort up in Boston, Lincolnshire for a day of racing at the Great Britain Development and U23 trials.

 

On the men’s side in Boston, we had 11 pairs taking part in the trial with 6 crews coming in the top 10. Matt Heywood combined with James Doran from Oxford University to come in 3rd place, Jake Wincomb and Fergus Woolnough came in 4th place being the 2nd fastest U23 pair. Toby Lassen and Jono Cameron were 6th and Louis Nares and Odhran Donaghy were in 7th. Max Mills and Richard Hawes came in 9th place and Ben Newton with Ed Lemanowicz facilitating came in 10th place. Jack Cooper and George Bell were 12th place followed by Harry Fisher and Kai Schlottmann in 13th and the 2nd fastest U21 crew of the day. Shay Bradley and Connor Mcgillan were 17th. Archie Barker and Morgan Haisman were 22nd and Finn Mosedale and Fred Tyler came in 23rd place. Some great results from all members of the club as we now head into a busy period of racing back in big boats.

 

Martha Birtles with Brenna Randall facilitating came in 4th place just ahead of Rhianna Sumpter and Grace Richards in 5th and the 1st fastest full U23 pair. Aggie Burt joined forces with Sarah Marshall from Oxford University to come 9th overall with Aggie being the top U21 athlete in the field. Emilia Regan and Arianna Forde came 12th. Some big improvements from last season’s performance in small boats and lessons learned to take forward.

 

Racing continues to come thick and fast with our women’s squad back on the Tideway tomorrow in their fixture against Cambridge while the men’s squad continue preparation for their fixtures over the next few weeks.
