Marlow International Regatta 2021

The Brookes Men’s squad, bolstered by the return of several of our Olympic Pathway athletes from the World Cup III were in racing action this Saturday at Eton Dorney Lake, for the Marlow International Regatta. Sadly, the Brookes team were four athletes short of a full complement as they are currently away training as a part of potential U23 projects.

Oxford Brookes University had five Eights entered between the Championship and Tier 2 events in the early morning session. Several athletes doubled up in Coxless and Coxed Four’s throughout the rest of the day. Racing was competitive and many lessons were learnt by athletes and crews throughout the team in changeable conditions. Brookes were fortunate to come away with 1^st, 2^nd and 3^rd and 5^th place in the Championship VIIIs Final.

-Coxless Fours (1^st and 3^rd)
-Coxed Fours (1^st and 2^nd)
-Tier 2 Eights 3^rd (Academic Pennant Winners)

Oxford Brookes are immensely grateful for the opportunity to race and demonstrate the training efforts made by all despite such a disrupted period for all involved in the sport. It was a tremendous sight to see so many crews out on the water enjoying racing again. Thanks, should be made to the organisers of the race for putting on a regatta after such a long time away from competition.  
The Brookes students look forward to turning their attention now to preparations for the BUCs Regatta which takes place on Thursday 24^th – Saturday 26^th June.
